Look at this clip on YouTube. Mr Bean messes around with a Van Den Graaf generator that produces static electricity.

I'm glad that the Museum is up and running. Grade 6's, I hope you enjoyed the electricity experiments. Remember you can try the static Electricity experiments using a plastic ruler which you can rub on your shirt or in your hair.

P.S Please don't shock the cat!!!

Hi Grade 3's its great to be working with you on your new theme for term two. I hope you enjoyed your time in the museum and that you learn lots about the fascinating world of insects. Isn't it amazing to see how wonderful God's creation really is.Check out the video clip on how different insects can be. The maker of the clip made a small Scientific error, I wonder if any of you can work it out. Tell me the answer and the first correct answer get a sweet from me. Biomes of the World

Biomes of the world.
We have learnt all about the different categories of animals. We are now going to place them in there respective environments. These are the different areas of the world where certain species will best survive. Some of the questions we will be dealing with are as follows.

1. What are Biomes?
2. What are the names of the different Biomes?
3. Place them on a map and use a key to identify them.
4. Identify two contrasting Biomes and study them in more detail explaining the Fauna and Flora of each area and how they have adapted to their environments.

The time is coming up for you to show what you have learnt during this year. To study for Biology you should never just read over your notes. Use mind maps, keywords, "hospital cards"(remember we discussed them at the beginning of the year). Although there is a lot of work if you start revising soon you will not need to worry at the end of the month.

Wednesday, March 11, 2009

The next section that we are working on are all the Vertebrates. This includes Amphibians, Fish, Reptiles, Mammals and Birds. Genesis1: 20,24 tells us how unique and wonderfully God has created all these animals.

Hopefully you are building up strength for the fish dissection at the end of this section.

Get ready to study by making a Word Hospital. Write all the new vocabulary words on small cards with their meaning on the back, place all the cards in an envelope . Every time you do homework go over and learn the words. Once you know the words place the card in a second envelope and keep it there for revision at a later stage. You will be supprised at how many new words you can learn in this way.

Arthropods
Arachnids- these are the spiders, scorpions and ticks.
Look at this video clip to have a better idea of some of their characteristics. Write down a paragraph describing the three characteristics of Arthropods in your science exercise book.

Check out some of our grade one's looking at the solar eclipse last week. Remember a solar eclipse happens when the shadow of the moon comes across the earth.

Northwest Christian School Science

Welcome to our own school Grade 7 science blog.

Biology is such an interesting subject and often we cannot cover all the interesting things in class. Here you will find an opportunity to share your ideas and pictures and to even slot into current work being done in class.
Our first tasks this year will be to learn about classification of animals and plant into different classes
